ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Battling Bishop exciting summer continues with episode two which involves a Bishop student-athlete doing an internship with a summer league baseball team.
Rising junior Callie Cline of the NC Wesleyan volleyball team, is currently in the midst of doing a summer internship as a Multimedia Intern for the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League (CPL), a wooden-bat collegiate baseball summer league.
As the social media intern, Cline, who has been with the Grizzlies since their opening day May 30, posts pictures and videos to the CPL Instagram and Snapchat stories during games so that fans who cannot attend the games can follow along live via the stories. Cline, who also has a love for photography, will also take photos and videos of various players on the Grizzlies that are playing throughout the game. She does this to provide content for the team and player in case that player wins a Player of the Week award in the league or gets drafted someday. Cline is also responsible for snapping some photos of the fans as well as the mid-inning entertainment and promotions that are done on the field.
"It has been great [so far]," commented Cline when describing her experience in the CPL. "Just getting to meet new people, make new friends, taking pictures (which i love doing) and just being around the game of baseball is so fun."
Cline will be with Gastonia throughout their season which will culminate with a first round divisional playoff game on August 4 that the Grizzlies (22-13) will host because they won the first half West Division Championship. Gastonia plays at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia, NC.
Cline, last year's conference sportsmanship award winner for volleyball, will then shift her attention to the upcoming volleyball season which tips off on Aug. 30 with a game at Pfeiffer University.
