Fayetteville, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's lacrosse team saw its 2014 season come to an end on Friday afternoon with a 25-5 loss at Methodist University. The Battling Bishops end the season with a 1-10 overall record and 1-7 league mark.
The Monarchs netted the first three goals of the match before Bishop senior Laine Hicks got Wesleyan on the board with an unassisted score at the 18:01 mark. MU proceeded to reel of the next five goals before NCWC junior Tikeyah Shaw sandwiched another trio of Monarch tallies with two goals of her own, making the score 11-3 in favor of Methodist.
Freshman Molly Lewis got the Bishops as close as 11-4 just before half, but it would be all Monarchs from that point on as Lewis managed NCWC's lone goal in the final period. With Friday's pair of scores, Lewis finishes her freshman season with team-best 31 goals and 56 draw controls, which ranks as the second highest total in program history.
The match marks an end to the careers of Hicks and fellow senior Danyelle Rube.
