Men's Basketball Releases 2019-20 Schedule

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Head Men's Basketball coach John Thompson and his program have released their 2019-20 basketball schedule for the upcoming winter season. The reigning East Division Champs have a evenly-spaced home schedule as they will host 6 games in the first semester and six more in the second semester after the holiday break. 

Their exciting holiday tournament will consist of a trip to New York City to compete in the Medgar Evers Tournament in Brooklyn on Dec. 28-29 while they will also take a November trip to Greensboro to compete in the Guilford college Classic. They will face Mary Hardin-Baylor University out of Texas in the first game of the Guilford Classic on Nov. 16 before playing host Guilford on Sunday. Times are still to be announced for those contests. The Bishops will also travel to Wilmington to battle Div. 1 foe UNCW on November 19 at 7 PM in an exhibition.

Wesleyan begins its season on November 13 with a home date vs. the University of Lynchburg at 7:30 PM inside Everett Gym. After a home non-conference game vs. Mid-Atlantic Christian (NC) on December 3, the Bishops will then prepare to host the Roger Taylor Invitational from Dec. 6-7. Wesleyan will first host Southern Virginia University on Friday at 8 while Greensboro College takes on St. Andrews University at 6. Greensboro will then take on SVU at 1:00 Sunday before the Bishops finish off the RTI by hosting St. Andrews at 3 PM Sunday.

The men will then team with the women's basketball team to host their first of two doubleheaders this season on Saturday, Dec. 14 vs. Averett at 4 PM. The women will tip-off at 2 vs. Methodist. The first semester home schedule will conclude with an early matinee start on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 11 AM vs. Maryville College (TN). 

The second semester then picks up with the Bishops heading west to take on West Division foes Piedmont (GA) and Brevard College before returning home to host Greensboro and Pfeiffer on Jan. 8 and 11th respectively.

After another trip west to face LaGrange (GA) and Huntingdon (AL) Jan. 18-19, Wesleyan will come home to host Peace University on Jan. 25 in a 2/4 PM doubleheader with women's basketball before hosting rival Methodist on Jan. 29 at 7:30.

The Bishops will then finish off their season by hosting just two West Division foes in February while they travel to their four Eastern rivals. Senior Day will be Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 PM when they host Covenant with their other home game on Sat., Feb. 8 at 2 vs. Berea College.
