North Carolina Wesleyan College Director of Athletics Aaron Denton has announced that Mike Armbruster will be taking over as the Assistant Athletic Director, Internal Operations at NC Wesleyan. He is set to begin on April 15.
Armbruster comes to the Battling Bishops from the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, OH where he was the Director of Athletic Operations for the past eight years. He also served as head women's basketball coach for the past four seasons.
"Mike's extensive operations experience in a small college athletic program coupled with his professional, engaging demeanor will serve NC Wesleyan well," shared Aaron Denton. "He is a hard worker with valuable expertise in growing athletic programs and serving coaches. I'm excited about Mike's impact on continually improving the student-athlete experience at Wesleyan."
"My wife Brittany and I are very excited about the opportunity to take on a new challenge at North Carolina Wesleyan College," said Armbruster. "I am grateful for NC Wesleyan's President Dr. Dewey Clark, and Athletic Director Aaron Denton, for giving me the opportunity to work alongside a great group of coaches at NCWC in the coming years. I am thrilled to become part of a growing institution, and am grateful for the chance to help support many aspects of the athletic department. I also look forward to serving the student-athletes, staff, and faculty at NCWC in any way I can."
Prior to his tenure as head women's basketball coach, Armbruster spent eight seasons as the top assistant with the UNOH men's basketball program and one prior season assisting on the UNOH women's bench. He was also the Sports Information Director for the baseball and softball programs in 2014.
"Mike Armbruster has been a staple in the revitalization process of sports here at UNOH for the past twelve years," said UNOH Athletic Director Chris Adams. "He has devoted his energy to both the Athletic Department and the Women's basketball program with persistence, class, and diligence during his tenure here. We would like to wish Mike the best of luck in his new athletic administrative endeavor at North Carolina Wesleyan College."
Armbruster achieved his M.B.A, magna cum laude, from UNOH in 2017 while he earned his B.A in Business Administration from UNOH as well in 2010.
